The Gold Tone AC-1 5 String Open Back Banjo was awarded Best In Show in the Summer edition of NAMM in 2016 for more than good reason. This uber-serious entry-level banjo has been fitted with a professional-grade 11-inch Remo skin, and comes with a sturdy gig bag included complete with a large accessory compartment.
The AC-1 5 String Open Back Banjo
The shell of this banjo has been made using a composite to give it high durability while maintaining a nicely low weight of 1.7kg. This raises the playability needed to support hours of comfortable practice, and since the back is open, this banjo has a little less volume than a closed back model, so your neighbours shouldn't mind too much either. A two-way truss rod has been fitted in the neck to protect it as it ages and can be adjusted to counter the warping effect of temperature and humidity shifts that naturally occur over years of playing. This excellent and classic instrument has been built to last decades.
